Guest Blog Series - PHOENIX MOON

........................

Hey ya'll!

Sweet Emily asked me if I wanted to do a guest blog and I was like 'UH YEAH!!!'. Any excuse to get dressed up and strut around right?! I love Secrets of the Tribe jewelry, and if you are reading this, I am sure you do too, so I was so excited to join forces with her on this guest blog series.

Well, just a little about me - my name is Lauren Christner. I am the blogger behind Phoenix Moon on Instagram and the owner of Phoenix Moon Vintage on Etsy. I live in Texas; born and raised. I love country western music, good beer, vintage clothing and cowboys. I also love fashion and how it is a form of art that we can all express ourselves through daily; and when you find people all around the world who have similar taste and style as you, it is just magical!

My husband took all of these photos for me around town (he is in no way a professional photographer but he ROCKS! I have my own personal camera man following me around all the time!) I usually take pictures in an open field or in the woods but I thought that it would be fun to take some in various places around our little town. We drove to a bowling alley, the old Clayton Motel off our main strip in town and by a big Chinese buffet which is next to one of my favorite thrift stores and took a few pictures. I felt the old buildings gave and my pants gave it a total 70's vibe.

I am wearing a beautiful Secrets of the Tribe Necklace, handmade by Emily herself. My kimono and RUSH t-shirt are vintage, my boots are by Jeffrey Campbell and my silver slave bracelet is from Child of Wild. The silver coin necklace was found on Etsy, my hat is from Sisters of the Black Moon and my bell bottoms are by one of my new favorite brands, Miracle Eye who are based out of L.A!

I hope you enjoy my little blog post here on Secrets of the Tribe! Thanks so much for having me! P.S - these photos are best viewed while listening to Neil Young's album, Harvest Moon....

TEXAS CRUSH

................

The only two things in life
That make it worth liven'
Is guitars to tune good
and firm feelin' women
...............

So baby let's sell your diamond ring
buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
This coat and tie is choking me
In your high society you cry all day
.................

(Lyrics by Waylon Jennings)

There is no doubt that I have a huge crush on the Texan lifestyle....in my opinion there's a bit of Texas in all of us....even a viking child like me....have dreams about being a real live texan doing horseback riding and roadtrippin' on endless desert roads while listening to some of my favorite country songs.

Texas is Lone Star beer and Shiner Bock. Texas is larger than life legends like Willie Nelson & Waylon Jennings. Texas is huge herds of cattle and miles of crops. Texas is beaches, deserts, lakes and rivers, mountains and prairies. And badass pretty girls.

I am inspired beyond words by these images from the amazingly talented women of www.heyokaleather.com and www.banditbrand.com featuring Leslie Crow, Bandit brand babes and the lovely ladies of www.gypsystardust.com....As well as some other favorites of mine...their origin I am not aware of...but they rock my world.
