DESERT GYPSY ROSE

When I was first asked to do a guest blog post for Emily’s site, I was so elated with excitement; it truly struck a chord in my gypsy soul...  I knew of the perfect location to showcase this gem of a necklace that she so flawlessly crafted for me.  Emily is such a sweet sunflower; I feel blessed to have met such a like-minded creative soul.

A true gypsy at birth, born in the Hawaiian Islands, I have never been able to stay in one place long enough to call home.  My name is Rachel Rose and I am a former fashion stylist from Los Angeles who chased her heart to the desert… to the middle of Arizona.  I’m now in the process of refining my vision, which currently involves curating an online vintage and Native American inspired boutique, violetsummer.com.

Following my true wanderlust soul, I have found my inspiration in the beautiful high deserts of the Southwest.  I model my style and inspiration from the 1970’s decade of Stevie Nicks and awakened flowerchildren… mixed with a southwest rebel edge encompassing the true soul of the Native Spirits here.

My husband and I have been a duo since our college days in Miami, FL.  He is my other half, and shoots and edits and collaborates with me on my projects.  I am truly blessed to have him by my side as my partner on this beautiful cosmic journey.

I enjoyed featuring the red rocks of Sedona for this shoot because it is literally my backyard playground.  Sedona is a major energy vortex and highly spiritual place, so I knew it would be a rad location.

I am so excited to contribute to this beautiful inspiring online world of the Goddess movement taking place right now...  One Love… Rock On Gypsies. XXOO

I spotted this wonderful Arizona Lady on IG....and instantly had to contact her. I love the desert life she portraits in her images, as you can clearly vision that nature and spirituality is a great part of her daily life. As me, she has a big place in her heart for the great Goddess, and we both truly appreciate the power of women uniting. So it was without a doubt that we had to do a Secrets of the Tribe >< Violet Summer collab. Violetsummer.com  is her upcoming online store of vintage and native jewelry. It will be launched this summer. So keep an eye out for that. I sure will! Enjoy this wonderful guest blog post by Rachel Rose and follow her on IG (@desertgypsyrose).

British Gypsy Girl

Hi! I’m so flattered that not only did Emily want to design and handmake this amazing Secrets of the Tribe necklace for me, but she also wanted me to do a guestpost on her blog, and it’s also my very first guest post ever too!

Ok so time to admit already I’m not the best with words, I’m a little all over the place, so bear with me, as I am generally with life (I like to call it being creative haha, I also use it to justify how messy I am) but a good place to would be with a bit about me right?

Hi, my name is Sara and I run a blog/vintage brand of the same name, (Waiste by the way) and I live in East London with my boyfriend and my furry baby kitty cat Herschy. I’m obsessed with vintage, fashion, the 60s and 70s, chocolate, animals, and general dreaming of living in somewhere hot and sunny in the USA.  However, on the days when it is sunny in London, I love nothing more than heading to the park and being around all the beautiful greenery-oh and this one we shot in is right next to the city farm too!  I thought this would be the perfect place to twirl around in my necklace and take some pretty pictures in the little forest next to it. I grew up in the English countryside, which is green, green, green so it reminds me of being home. London can be a lonely place sometimes, especially when you’re a bit more of a free spirit (is that the right word?, I don’t know, you know what I mean) so when I’m feeling a little sad, finding some beautiful nature in all the grey and the buildings and the concrete always makes me feel much better.

So anyway, with the necklace, I’m wearing a MinkPink dress and a waistcoat I made myself, I loved that I could combine something handmade by me with Emily’s handmade creation too, they go so well together J My necklace was made from titanium quartz which I totally feel the perfect stone for me, and I can feel the love that went into creating it. In Emily’s words: ‘Titanium quartz is the most powerful and vibrantly intense one of all the coated and treated quartz. It projects strength, physical power and mental acuity to the wearer - makes one more confident, more aware & more amused by life.’ Makes sense really, I definitely need more of all three of those! I’ve got my head in the clouds half the time and one of my wishes would be to have more confidence, so it’s a pretty perfect match for me!

There is something really special about Sara Waiste. And by that I am not talking about the fact that she is a super talented business woman, running her vintage shop Waiste Vintage or her awesome & inspiring blog, or of the fact that she has the most amazing closet filled with treasures that she hunts for with passion and a clever eye. And I am not even talking about her great talent for customizing old items or hand making new design from vintage fabrics.
I am talking about her cool and relaxed way of approaching the blog world. There is a lot of no-nonsense in her pictures and in her look. A kind of: "What you se is what you get" feel, and a refreshing honesty! Thank you for that Sara!

With Love & Lights,

Emily

BOHO PRINCESS

Hey guys,

My name is Nanda and I'm an 18  year old blogger from germany. So today I show you my latest DIY. All you need is a fake leather jacket and some stuff you can get at every jewellery store. I went to get 4 bracelets (2 for each arm) and a scarf (for the front row), then just sew it on like you want it! Add a destroyed Jeans some boots and boho jewels like the necklace from Secrets of the Tribe,  for the unltimate rocker boho style. Do you like it? If you want to know more about me, visit my Blog .

Kisses!!

I have been sooooo exited about this guest blog post featuring Nanda, a sweet yet badass boho princess from Germany. I have been following her blog for while, I actually found it when I was searching for pictures of girls with dreads....at that time Nanda had some stunning blonde dreadlocks. The dreads are gone and she still rocks my boho heart, with her playful, happy and inspiring approach to life....

<<< STORYTELLER >>>

Hi y'all!!
When Emily asked me to do a guest spot on her blog, i got excited.  I had just decided to start doing what i call "At home self portraiture sessions" where I photograph myself at home and make art out of a photo.  I'm getting better at it everyday... and I had so much fun using the insanely gorgeous breastplate that Emily designed just for me.  It literally goes with everything I own.. coincidence? nah....:)

Basically, with my self portraits, I get a flash or idea of a photo in my head and then i do everything in my power to make it come to life.  Its not easy, its a lot of trial and error, and if you were a fly on my wall you would laugh.  I use my iphone, along with a self timer and tripod... i do a lot of running back and forth... and then i spend about an hour obsessively editing.  Each edit is different, depending on the esthetic of the self portrait. I plan on getting better and better at these, and hopefully can add to this collection of photos i did for this post.

Besides taking professional selfies, I'm a hairstylist, wife, kitty mama, rum drinkin, booty shakin, fashion lovin' southern girl... i'm scatter brained, messy, impossible to argue with, and a horrible cook. I live in Nashville, TN in a beautiful loft downtown and i'm married to the man of my dreams. I gravitate towards beautiful creative souls and I have an online shopping addiction.  Thats basically all there is to know about me.

xoxx, Leah

Sometimes you open up a interior book or a fashion magazine....and in this case Instagram...and you see images that inspires you like crazy. Inspires you to create, to dream, to dare, to be more playful & to appreciate the beautiful gift of life a little bit more. That was some of the feelings I had when being hit by the magic of Leah's IG profile. She's an amazing storyteller! It's impossible to separate Leah's amazing talent of styling her daily outfits, from the way she (& her husband) has chosen to decorate their wonderful loft. It's all so perfectly unperfect united in a story of life & love! This will definitely not be the last feature of Leah on this blog!!

Love & Lights,

Emily
